LIVE AT IDWAY ARTS:
Saturday January 20, 2001
The performers are gathered in the green room to discuss the events about to unfold, Grant Hart enters with his manager Heidi Frier. Grant offers the Doctor Idway gifts of garlic bread and a small animal skull. As the house lights grew dim and the stage lights went up, all eyes turn to the Nick Haas trio. Round after round of appluase from the audience members was for a fifteen minute version of (Take the A train) with Fiddlegod as guest artist on violin.
Fiddlegods improvisational violin performance was next. It was an ominious opus that led to a bright and cheerful ending. Early on in the performance you could feel Fiddlegods passion for connecting with the audience by blending different styles together through words and imagery the audience had just requested him to perform. The Hexophidia show enchanted the whole audience. Doctor Idway is a ring leader dressed head to toe in black, who maintains his ethereal and trance like qualities. Doctor Idway appears and vanishes off the stage through a sea of stage fog for quick costume and hand prop changes. Doctor Idways haunted and half sung vocals left the audience in silence hypnotized by the songs.
Doctor Idway says, " Ahhh, The mystical madness that characterizes the Idway Arts experience. The mystical thing is always there, artisticaly the results are magic. We have a very unique formula that happens to be cohesive while retaining the quality of the differet performers. And it happened without doing anything sacreligious to our individual tastes. Every performance is driven by distinctive styles that we have blended together.
I'm not horribly technical it's just all emotive and that's how I play.
When people say you look like your really getting into it... I am! The character Doctor Idway I created is a major part of what Hexophidia is. If you have a body of work you can look back on and reflect upon you get what we call style. What we try to do with that is not repeat ourselves. So were trying very diligently to come up with something that's a bit different each time with out tampering to much with a formula that already works. The magic that results between the trio of acts has little to do with technology or technique and everything to do with talent".
